The Ayrshire Involvement Network gives people who get support in Ayrshire a chance to share ideas and experiences about being involved in things that matter to them.
Meetings are held 5-6 times per year, usually in Kilmarnock, and members discuss ways of putting the Charter for Involvement into practice.
Training to increase personal skills is also provided, and with some recently awarded Big Lottery funding members will be supported to take part in decision making in the South, East and North Ayrshire council areas.
Hello and welcome
My name is Gemma Stevenson. I am chairperson of the Ayrshire Involvement Network. I really enjoy being involved in Charter work. I feel that this has helped me speak up for myself and has given me lots of confidence and made me a stronger person. I want to help other people to be more confident in speaking up for themselves.
Hi I’m Alice. I am helping the Ayrshire Involvement Network to make sure they are listened to and respected.
We are a group of people from across Ayrshire who get additional support. We meet up every couple of months.
At meetings we talk about how we have been using the Charter for Involvement and what we think should happen next.
We are part of the National Involvement Network.
“We want to be involved in Speaking up Groups”
What we do
We raise awareness of the Charter for Involvement and promote inclusion of people who get additional support. We give each other mutual support and learn from each other. We also review local and national policies and make recommendations. Some of us get involved in campaigning and some of us have delivered training and given presentations on the Charter for Involvement. Sometimes organisations ask us for advice.

How can I get Involved?
Anyone with additional support needs can join Ayrshire Involvement Network. You can phone or email Alice for more information. You can ask whoever gives you support to contact Alice.
The group meets up every 2 months to share ideas and experiences about being involved. All meetings arranged for 2019 are at:
