Disability, Equity and Intersectionality

Further Details

‘I think this is a really important course…it was much more engaging and inspiring than the dry, ‘click-button’, online training I’ve had on this subject in the past’

ABOUT THIS COURSE

Did you know 66% of Brits admit they feel uncomfortable around disabled people? With 1 in 5 people in the UK living with a disability, it’s time to change that dynamic. Let’s turn avoidable discomfort into meaningful engagement!

This training goes further than other DEI training you’ve probably sat through while quietly checking your emails. We get into the human messy overlapping bits. We explore how neurodiversity, disability, gender, class, culture, and sexuality all play out in the workplace. If this makes you pause for a moment, you’re exactly who this training is for!

This training has been developed and is co-delivered by disabled and autistic people, who have all been on the sharp end of systems that flatten individuality into “policy problems”. They have thrived despite these systems, and they want to pass that knowledge on to you and your colleagues.

Format:

This interactive, full-day workshop is designed to empower you with confidence and practical skills. You’ll be invited to speak, reflect, ask awkward questions, and share what’s happening in your organisation. It’s open, honest and grounded in real life.

WHO IS IT FOR?

For professionals who want more than the standard tick-box DEI session. This course explores how neurodiversity, disability, gender, class, culture, and sexuality all play out in the workplace. You will leave feeling prepared and motivated to be a true ally in every interaction

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Lived-experience led training will always stick with you. In this authentic learning journey you’ll learn:

  • How to apply legal frameworks without hiding behind them
  • How to challenge your own assumptions without spiralling into shame (we all have them, honestly)
  • How to keep HR happy and do the right thing
  • How to have real, normal conversations about disability and difference.
  • What to do when you get it wrong (because we all do at some point)
  • Practical ideas on ways to embed DEI and community engagement into funding and strategy work.
  • A few things you didn’t know you needed until someone says them out loud.
